Tomato is a horticultural crop with high acceptance worldwide, which is affected for several pathogens in those who find Stemphyllium solani Weber, responsible for the gray leaf spot. The control of this disease is based on application of chemical fungicides, which increase production costs and cause pollution to the environment, so the search for methods of agroecological control is necessary, as is the use of plant extracts. The aim of this work was to determine the "in vitro" antifungal activity of Critus spp. extracts against S. solani. The extracts were obtained by ultrasonic assisted extraction and then the total phenols content was quantified. For each extract was established the minimal inhibitory concentration, and then was determined the percentage of inhibition of micelial growth and the percentage of inhibition of conidial germination. In all extracts were obtained concentrations of totals phenols highest than 36 mg equivalent to galic acid mL-1 of extracts. The ethanolic extract of Citrus aurantium var. sinensis (L.) Osbeck showed the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration against S. solani. The tested extracts, except C. aurantium L. in ethanol, showed percentages of inhibition of mycelial growth of S. solani of 100 %. However, only the extracts of C. aurantium var. sinensis in ethanol and Citrus reticulata Blanco in methanol showed percentages of inhibition of conidial germination of 100 %, so they were selected as the most effective in the in vitro control of S. solani.

With the objective to evaluate the antagonistic activity of T. harzianum (strain A-34) on the causal agent of rice blast (P. grisea), were developed several in vitro experiments. It was evaluated the biocontrol mechanisms such as competition through mounted the percent inhibition of radial growth of hyphae of P. grisea from 24 to 240 hours and the antagonistic capacity. In addition, was evaluated micoparasitism to inclination the observation of events Microscopy winding, penetration, vacuolization, lysis, and antibiosis by observing 24 hours a confrontation between the hyphae of the phytopathogenic fungus and biological control agent. It was obtained at 120 hours 100 % inhibition of micelial growth of causal agent, what corresponded with the degree 1 of antagonistic capacity (scale) and is recorded as a hyperparasitic action on P. grisea. It was evidenced an antibiotic effect of metabolites produced by T. harzianum (strain A-34) to 24 hours of confrontation, where there was time interaction between the hyphae of microorganisms with 14,3 % inhibition, also was evidence the micoparasitism events by penetration, vacuolization and lysis in the cells of phytopathogenic fungus. These results demonstrated the ability of T. harzianum (strain A-34) on causal agent of rice blast (P. grisea).

The work was carried out in farmers fields of located in the area of Portoviejo, province of Manabi; with the objective of evaluating two biological insecticides, Methakill and Baukill with doses of 5, 10 and 15 mL L-1 of water for the control of S. frugiperda, being evaluated the populations of the insect before and after the application of the same. A Full Random Block Design was used, with three replicates. The chemical treatment (Lambda Cyhalothrin + Tiametoxan 1.5 mL L-1 of water) presented the lowest averages of damage (6.47 %), followed by the treatment that consisted of the spraying of Methakill in doses of 15 mL L-1 water with 10.57 % damage. The Control treatment had the highest percentages of involvement with 27.78 %. The highest yields were obtained in the treatments where Lambda Cyhalothrin + Tiametoxan 1.5 mL L-1 water and Methakill 15 mL L-1 water were applied, statistically equal to each other with 7989.24 and 6919.43 kg ha-1 respectively.

Was performed a diagnosis to identify the species of the Scarabaeidae family present in guava cultivation, to determine the distribution and ecological indices of abundance and relative frequency of species associated with the cultivation. The sampling was carried out by light traps, in 35 fields of guava, in five Basic Units of Production and a small property, all belonging to the Ceballos Agroindustrial Enterprise, between May 2013 and June 2015. It was determined that the species of the Scarabaeidae family associated with the cultivation, were Cyclocephala cubana Chap., Phyllophaga patruelis Chev., Phyllophaga puberula Duval, Phyllophaga pilositarsis Blackwelder, Anomala calceata Chev., Strategus sarpedon Burm., Digitonthophagus gazella Fabricius and Dyscinetus picipes Burm. The most abundant species were C. cubana 60% (very abundant) and A. calceata Chev. with 10 % (abundant). The species C. cubana, P. patruelis, P. puberula, P. pilositarsis, A. calceata and S. sarpedon, were very frequent, while D. gazella and D. picipes were frequent in guava cultivation.

The objective of this research was to characterize the mineral status of the soil and pasture in of the Andean Ecuadorian region, during the rainy and dry periods, three dairy farms were used as study cases investigated him three dairy farms of the El Carchi province. They determined the chemical indicators of the soil and the pasture, the descriptive statisticians were calculated themselves and it was used a multifactorial ANOVA to determine the main factors affecting them on them, comparing means with Bonferroni and Duncan test. The soil classified as acid lightly, 100 % of the samples presented elevated levels of organic matter, NH4+, Mg, Cu, Zn, Fe and Mn. The farm had a significant effect on the pH, Ca, Mg, K, Cu, Fe, Mg and P, and the climatic period on the organic matter, NH4+, S, Cu and P. Pasture presented deficiencies of Mg, Zn and Na, the other minerals were above the critical limits. The farm affected the Ca, P, Mg, Na and Mn, and the climatic period the levels of Ca, K, Cu y Zn. In conclusion, 100 % soil samples presented high OM, slight acidity, low levels of Ca and high concentrations of NH4+, S, Mg, Cu, Zn and Mn. In pastures, there were diagnosed deficiencies of P, Cu and Zn, and their concentrations differed among farms and the two climatic periods of the year.

The effect of Azofert® on the induction of tolerance of bean varieties to water deficit was evaluated. The experiment was developed during the period 2013-2014 at the Cooperative for Credits and Services Strengthened "Roberto Aguilar", Bayamo municipality, Granma, Cuba. Varieties CC-25-9R and Tomeguín-93 were used, which were applied four treatments, consisting of normal irrigation conditions throughout the crop cycle and conditions of water deficit at the beginning of flowering, formation and filling of the pods. In each case Azofert® was applied, with a dose of 200 mL per 50 kg of seed at the time of planting and as controls treatments were used without the application of this product. A randomized block design was used according to divided plots and four replicates. Ten plants were selected at random for each treatment to evaluate pod length (cm), pod width (mm), pod diameter (cm), number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pods, number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds per plant (g), weight of 100 seeds (g), as well as yield (t ha-1). The results showed the significant effect of Azofert ® in increasing tolerance to the water deficit of the studied varieties.

Natural fresh water constitutes the habitat of a great variety of fluvial mollusks in Cuba; the environmental, technological and social interactions generate transformation risks, as well as, processes of ecological degradation in the ecosystems whose consequences affect the biotic community. To evaluate the causes that produced the appearance of snails of the gender Physa cubensis (Pfeiffer) it was the objective of this study, developed in the tobacco floating nursery of the UCTB Cabaiguán Experimental Station, at the end of the tobacco campaign 2013-2014, during which damages were observed in the leaves of tobacco plantlets, related with the presence of this snails gender. Snails were manually collected, identifying each sample before the shipment to the laboratory. Census of snails in the floating nursery, showed a population constituted by 9 individuals / m2 in each pool, which were in different development states, but no eggs. 9.33 % of plantlets of each tray showed areas with the typical scratch of the snail is radula, holes with irregular borders, up to the almost total destruction of the leaf area. The presence of Physa revealed the use of bad quality water for filling floats nurseries, so that mollusks found abundant feeding in the young plantlets. The study of combined control measures is recommended for this freshwater mollusk species in floating nurseries.

The goal of the present work was to determine the main properties of a compost made from bagasse, slowness and ash, obtained from the sugar factory process. To elaborate the mixture a characterization of the raw material was carried out in function of the properties related to the composting process. During the process of anaerobic biodigestion, the control of the main monitoring parameters was carried out, until reaching the maturation state. In the raw material used a bulk density of 0.12 to 0.48 g cm-3 was found, the pH oscillated between 5.2 and 8.7, while the electrical conductivity was in the range of 0,4 to 0,9 µ m-1. On the other hand, the contents of P, K, Ca and Mg showed values between 0.3 and 2.8 %. Finally, a bulk density of 0.5 g cm-3 was obtained in the compost. The carbon-nitrogen (C/N) ratio, showed a linear relation with respect to the time of composting, showing a suitable maturation of the mixture. The presence of N, P, K, Ca and Mg with values of 1; 1.3; 1.1; 2 and 1.1 % were also verified. After evaluating the results it is concluded that compost shows a suitable composition to be used as organic fertilizer in agriculture.

The experiment was developed in the Granma University is productive area, with the objective of evaluating the alone and combined earthworm humus application effect with Bradyrhizobium japonicum on G7R-315 variety soybean cultivation. Six treatments were evaluated: T1 Control, T2 B. japonicum, T3 earthworm humus (6 t ha-1), T4 B. japonicum + earthworm humus (6 t ha-1), T5 earthworm humus (8 t ha-1), T6 B. japonicum + earthworm humus (8 t ha-1) on a brown soil. A randomized block design was used with three replicas. The evaluated variables were: number per plant leguminous; weigh from 100 seeds and agricultural yield. The data obtained were processed by double classification variance analysis, applied a Turkey is multivariate statistical analysis. It was found that treatments that included the earthworm humus, the evaluated variables shown superior significantly results and it differed of the control treatment and to the aloneB. japonicum application.

Cuba has an international reputation for implementing widespread biological control of pests, and microbial biocontrol is an integral component of most pest management programs. One class of microbial pesticides however, has not been developed in Cuba, bio-insecticides based on the Baculoviridae. This class of safe and environmentally protective microbial pesticides is used ever more commonly worldwide as an alternative to chemical pesticides. The characteristics of the viruses of this family, particularly their high host specificity, safety to non-target organisms, capacity to persist in nature and create epizootics, and the economy with which they can be produced "in vivo", all make them attractive for incorporation into pest management programs along with other pesticides developed in Cuba. The mass production technology is well understood in Cuba and biofactories already exist for a number of microbial biocontrol products. In the province of Sancti Spíritus, the Plant Protection Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture, with the cooperation of the Institute for Sustainable Horticulture, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, are resuming the work which began in the 90´s to develop baculovirus products in support of sustainable agriculture in Cuba. This work is being carried out with the participation of young Canadian and Cuban students and professionals. The program includes research with the multicapsid nuclear polyhedrosis viruses of Spodoptera frugiperda (SfMNPV) and S. exigua (SeMNPV) and the search for native isolates of Baculovirus in Plutella xylostella, three priority pests in Cuba. In other jurisdictions they are well controlled by baculoviruses, and the expectation is that this same result is possible in Cuba.

By taking into account the foregoing, during the wet campaign of 2016 (month of August) in the Territorial Investigation Station of Grains "Sur del Jíbaro", Sancti Spíritus, on a vertic soil was an experiment with the objective of evaluating the resistance of new lines and rice cultivars before the attack of the fungus Pyricularia grisea Sacc

The present research work was carried out in a banana plantation barraganete recently harvested, established in the Santa Finca Marianita, km 42, San Agustín precinct, located in the canton "El Carmen", of the Manabi province, Ecuador. The same was done during the period comprised from March to July 2014. Had As an objective, determine the effectiveness of four types of traps for adult monitoring of the banana weevil, under the conditions agronomics of "El Carmen".

The efficacy of six fungicides for the control greasy spot (Mycosphaerella citri Whiteside) in orange (C. sinensis ) cv. Valencia was evaluated in plots with a randomized block design and six treatments: (Azoxystrobin + Difenoconazole), Flutriafol, Difenoconazole, Benomyl, Copper Oxychloride, Trifloxyistrobin and a control. Three spraying, were made, every fifteen days. During the assay, the incidence, severity and efficacy of the diseases were evaluated. In addition, area under the disease-progress curve (AUDPC) and disease-progress curve relative in percent (AUDPCr) were calculated. The data were processed through a simple ANOVA. As results, the incidence remained unchanged up to 21 days after treatment (DAT), with low values between 1.3 and 5 %, which increased from 28 (DAT) (58-96 %). The initially severity was low (0.1-3 %) and was increased up to 32 %. The efficacy 7 (DAT) had the highest percentages with Benomyl and Trifloxyistrobin (87.5 %) and Difenoconazole (75 %). While at 14 (DAT) Difenoconazole and Azoxydifem reached 87.5 %. All fungicides reduced the area under the disease-progress curve (AUDPC) in relation to the control and in correspondence the lowest cumulative relative percentages of disease-progress curve relative in percent (AUDPCr) were obtained by Flutriafol, Benomyl and Trifloxystrobin (8.4, 8.6 and 8.7 %), although without statistical differences with another fungicide, only with the control (11.2 %).
